What is the best size for me and my cakes?

Make sure you are ordering the correct size disks for your specific cakes. Before you order, measure your finished cakes and the bottom of your cake pans to avoid having to exchange your disks for a new size.

General Sizing Rule:

1/2-inch sizing
For cakes that shrink LESS than 1/8 inch (or not at all), AND you are NOT planning to cover with fondant.

1/4-inch sizing
For cakes that shrink MORE than 1/8 inch OR your cakes do not shrink, but you are planning to cover with fondant

Purpose of disks with center hole:
Some bakers request a 3/8-inch center hole put in the disks. They use this to help them center their cake tiers on the disks by using a temporary dowel as they ice. If you do not chill your cakes before icing with the disks, you will need to put a temporary dowel through the disks and cake to make sure your layers do not shift.

The Quad Icing Scraper

Four times as fun and four times as efficient, the Quad icing scraper is made of 1/8 inch clear acrylic. The edges are sharp and precise. There are no 45-degree angled edges like on CakeSafe’s OG Icing Scraper, but the four 90 degree edges will still give you sharp results. Bakers prefer CakeSafe’s icing scrapers because they are clear so you can see what’s happening to your icing on the other side of the scraper as you’re working. Handle with care. Hand wash with mild soap.
